Mission Statement:
Second Harvest Heartland’s mission is to end hunger through community partnerships.
About Us:
We believe that no one should go hungry. However, one in 10 people in n Minnesota and western Wisconsin, experience the stress of hunger on any given day.
As the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger relief organization, we are committed to innovation to meet the changing and growing needs in our community. We source, collect, store and deliver food with unmatched scale and efficiency. By constantly seeking new ideas and implementing new processes we’re creating new programs and initiatives that provide greater support to those we serve and additional ways to reach new people to provide the food they need to thrive.
Fundraising Events:
There are many ways to get involved in our mission to end hunger.

  • Make a Financial Contribution: For every $10 donated, Second Harvest Heartland can distribute 30 meals to those in our community who need them most.
  • Donate Food: Second Harvest Heartland relies upon both commercial and individual donations.
  • Host a Food & Fund Drive: Collect food or host a virtual Food & Fund Drive, available with just a click of a mouse!
  • Attend a Fundraising Event: Second Harvest Heartland hosts and benefits from many events. From Dish: Cuisine for Change, our annual gala; to the Vintner Ball, Taste of the Vikings; Let’s Kick Hunger Day Radiothon; Stamp Out Hunger and many more.

Volunteer/Giving Opportunities:
Last year, more than 30,500 unique volunteers donated over 141,000 hours of service, helping with everything from food sorting and packing to client assistance to special events support.

Thousands of individuals and local companies each year also generously contribute dollars and other resources to gather and distribute millions of pounds of food to those in need. You can make a single gift, become a monthly giver or even make a planned gift through a will.

We cannot do out our work alone. Consider donating funds, food or volunteer time. Your generosity and commitment help give our neighbors the hope and stability they need. Visit us at
