Iomega EGo

Iomega EGo

These Iomega portable hard drives are fast, convenient, and rugged enough to sustain a cameo in last summer’s explosion flick Transformers 2. Iomega’s eGo series got a fresh coat of paint in 2009, now coming in red, silver, blue, and black. The company also packed more inside, with capacity now reaching up to 500GB. That’s enough to store 2 million photos, 9,250 hours of music, or 750 hours of video. Multiple reviewers have clocked the drives as the fastest in their field. And they’re affordable, too, priced between $85 and $140 depending on size and features. The units draw their electricity from the same USB connection used to transfer files. That means one less cord to get tangled up in your purse or briefcase. And you butterfingers out there will be happy to know the drives can all safely sustain drops of up to 51 inches. The eGo is compatible with Windows, Macs—and Transformer Autobots, too, we presume.
