Spinal Fusion Success

Spinal fusion surgery can be used to treat chronic back pain. But surgical site preparation is critical in encouraging bone growth between two vertebrae and creating a solid bridge between them. CoreSpine’s Xtend devices are used to remove soft tissue and cartilage at the site. The devices can reach at least 90 percent of the disc space to remove more material than manual methods, which typically reach only up to 66 percent of the space. The more tissue removed in preparation, the greater the chances for success in spinal fusion surgery.

The Xtend device needs to be inserted only once due to its cutting mechanism and built-in tissue extraction. Manual instruments need to be inserted and removed many times to do the same work. The Xtend cutting tip is designed to remove specific tissue types while protecting the surrounding structures.
