Brand Loyalty

In my fifteen years as head professional at Interlachen Country Club, one of the most talked-about individuals that walked our fairways was the late, great Patty Berg. Once, Patty came home to Interlachen for the grand-opening celebration of our renovated clubhouse. One of our grounds crew approached Patty as she and I were sitting in a golf cart. “Patty, would you autograph this golf ball for me?” he asked. Patty took the golf ball, studied it for a second, then handed it back to the gentleman and said, “Young man, if you bring me back a Wilson golf ball, I would be happy to autograph it.” 


Patty loved the Wilson golf company and no matter what, she was loyal to them in every way possible, including when it came to autographing golf balls. He did come back with a Wilson ball and she gladly signed it.
