Supply chain challenges, a labor shortage, and a call for increased automation were big themes among TCB’s 2022 Manufacturing Excellence Award winners, honored Wednesday night during an event at the Holden Room in Minneapolis.

“We have to find smarter ways to do things, just in general,” said Jennifer Lang, owner and president of Minneapolis Glass, one of eight manufacturers recognized this year, along with Malco, Metal Craft and Riverside Machine and Engineering, Peli BioThermal, Renewal by Andersen, Tennant, Minnesota Ice, and Hennepin Made. A leader from each company took the stage to discuss recent successes with TCB editor-in-chief Allison Kaplan.

“I saw the power of what making and creating things could do,” said Jackson Schwartz, co-founder of Hennepin Made and owner of The Glass House multi-use facility where the event was held.

“We’re really looking to build a company that’s here for longevity. We really want to make this part of the cultural fabric of the city.”
