HelpSystems Acquires UK’s Halcyon Software

The purchase boosts the company’s portfolio of IT tools.

HelpSystems LLC is set to acquire Halcyon Software, an English IT firm.

The Eden Prairie-based company said it purchased Halcyon with an eye toward fostering expansion of the brand, as well as having another tool to offer to customers.

“We are excited to add the Halcyon suite of products to our existing portfolio of IT management solutions,” HelpSystems CEO Chris Heim said in a statement. “The depth and experience the Halcyon employees have in performance monitoring and systems management is a welcome addition to the HelpSystems team.”

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition marks one of the first major moves for Heim as CEO. He served as a board member before taking over the role when Janet Dryer—who held the position for three decades—announced her retirement in December.

Halcyon is headquartered in the UK, but also has an American office in Raleigh, North Carolina, and another in Australia.

Recently, HelpSystems was named a finalist in the software category for the Minnesota High Tech Association’s Tekne Awards.
