HCMC Hires Emily Blomberg as COO
Hennepin County Medical Center announced on Wednesday the hiring of Emily Blomberg, a University of Minnesota graduate, as its chief operating officer.
Blomberg comes to HCMC from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas where she was the vice president of health system operations. Prior to that, she directed business development for the surgery department at the University of Wisconsin Health system in Madison.
She received her Master’s of Healthcare Administration and Bachelor of Science in business from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
“Emily brings a unique, diverse skill set to our organization,” said HCMC chief executive Dr. Jon Pryor in a statement. “Her oversight of all Hennepin Health System operations provides leadership that will help align our focus and structure within the future direction of healthcare.”
HCMC, a Minneapolis-based hospital system, is one of the largest in the state employing roughly 6,800 people and offering services at dozens of clinics. As chief operating officer, Bloomberg will be responsible for ancillary services at HCMC, including at its radiology, pharmacy and laboratory departments. She’ll also be in charge of HCMC’s operational and support functions, which range from information technology and security to nutrition services.
