Gen. Mills and Target Among “World’s Most Powerful Brands”

General Mills ranked 47th and Target ranked 78th on Forbes’ list, which based its rankings on a combination of each brand’s value and perception among consumers.

General Mills and Target—which consistently appear on national lists of companies that excel in various areas of business—were most recently recognized as two of “the world’s most powerful brands.”

The list, compiled by Forbes, examined more than 200 global brands and ranked 100 companies. The rankings are based on a combination of each brand’s value (as calculated by the magazine) and perception among consumers based on a dozen attributes.

Golden Valley-based General Mills came in 47th with a brand value of $3.5 billion and a second-place consumer perception ranking among the 100 companies on the list. Minneapolis-based Target, meanwhile, ranked 78th with a brand value of $4.4 billion and a consumer perception rank of 42.

Apple topped Forbes’ list with brand value totaling $87.1 billion and a consumer perception rank of 11. Microsoft, Coca-Cola, IBM, and Google rounded out the top five.
