Family-Owned Bachman’s Names First Female President

Susan Bachman West's promotion marks the fifth generation of the family to hold the position.

Bachman’s, the family-owned floral, home and garden company, named its first female president in a history that spans 131 years.
Susan Bachman West will become the fifth Bachman to hold the role when she assumes the position in June. She joined the company full time in 1997 and currently serves as the vice president of perishable merchandising and floral design.
“This will be the fourth time the Bachman family has passed the leadership baton to a new generation, and I can’t tell you how honored I am to be a part of that legacy,” Bachman West said in a statement. “The Bachman’s company has so many deeply rooted traidtions … but perhaps our most important family traditions are our dedication to maintaining Bachman’s leadership in our industry and our commitment to connecting with new generations of customers.”
Bachman West takes the role as Paul Bachman, a member of the fourth generation of the family, announced his retirement. He has been president since 2008.
Bachman’s was founded in 1885 and now has six full-service home and garden centers, a floral and card shop, two hardscape centers and 27 floral departments within Lunds & Byerlys stores.
