Fairview Buys Local Clinic With 2 Locations

Bloomington Lake Clinic's Bloomington location will begin operating as a Fairview clinic this month; the South Minneapolis location will reopen under the Fairview name in spring 2012.

Fairview Health Services said Tuesday that it has acquired Bloomington Lake Clinic-which has locations in both Minneapolis and Bloomington.

Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

The clinic, which has been around for more than 80 years, specializes in family medicine; preventive, acute, and chronic care; and laboratory and X-ray services. Both locations offer extended hours for appointments.

The Bloomington location, which is on Xerxes Avenue, has more than a dozen providers and roughly 10,000 square feet of space. It will begin operating as a Fairview clinic this month.

Meanwhile, the Lake Street location in South Minneapolis was destroyed by a fire in March. But it will reopen under the Fairview name in spring 2012. Fairview officials plan to seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the office.

“Patients will receive care from the same providers and staff that they've come to trust over the years,” Mark Domalewski, vice president of operations for Fairview Clinics, said in a statement. “It's important that the patient-provider relationship remain intact.”

Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services is a nonprofit health care system that owns seven hospitals and operates more than 40 primary care clinics. It employs more than 20,000 across the state.
