Ben Johnson, Head Coach, University of Minnesota Men's BasketBall
Ben Johnson was named head men's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota in March 2021. Johnson is Minnesota's 18th head coach in program history. Johnson, who graduated from Minnesota in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in sociology, returns to his alma mater after spending three seasons at Xavier as an assistant coach. He previously served as an assistant coach at Minnesota from 2013-18 and was a two-time captain during his playing career for the Gophers.

One of the most decorated players in women's basketball history, Lindsay Whalen returned to her alma mater as the 12th head women's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota in 2018. In her three seasons guiding the Golden Gophers, Whalen has led the team to a 45-39 mark (.536) with a trip to the WNIT in 2018-19. In addition, she has coached one WNBA draft pick, one All-American, nine All-Big Ten honorees, two members of the Big Ten All-Freshman team, one Big Ten All-Defensive Team player and 18 Academic All-Big Ten honorees.
