Ecolab Acquires Chemstar Corp.
St. Paul-based Ecolab has acquired cleaning products company Chemstar Corp.
The transaction marks Ecolab’s third acquisition in eight months. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 2018, Georgia-based Chemstar generated about $40 million in sales, according to an Ecolab announcement.
Chemstar offers various food safety, sanitation, and freshness products for kitchen, surface, and floor care. The company also sells hand hygiene, food sanitation, and produce and floral freshness products for retail and convenience stores.
“Chemstar’s food safety solutions align well with our existing offerings and will enhance and broaden our ability to meet the needs of our food retail customers,” said Bobby Mendez, Ecolab executive vice president and president of global services and specialty, in a statement.
The deal grows Ecolab’s product portfolio, which will now include Chemstar’s Sterilox Fresh product line, an electrolyzed water technologies brand. Sterilox was originally an independent manufacturing company until Chemstar purchased its assets in 2016.
It also follows Ecolab spinning off its $2.4 billion upstream energy business into an independent public company.
