CNBC Star Marcus Lemonis Scoops Up Another St. Paul Retailer

The acquisition will complement Lemonis’s recent purchase of brick-and-mortar chain Gander Mountain.

Only months after acquiring Gander Mountain, Marcus Lemonis has added yet another St. Paul-based outdoor lifestyle retailer to his portfolio.

“So excited about this news,” Lemonis wrote this Friday on Twitter regarding Camping World Holdings’ purchase of TheHouse.com, an online seller of snowboards, skis, bikes, wakeboards and other outdoor equipment.

Lemonis, CEO of the RV retailer Camping World, is perhaps better known as an entrepreneur and star of the CNBC show “The Profit.”

Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Camping World did not disclose details of its deal for TheHouse.com. Last May, Camping World acquired certain assets of brick-and-mortar retailer Gander Mountain for about $38 million at a bankruptcy auction. Not long after the deal, Lemonis announced he was changing Gander’s name to Gander Outdoors.

“We believe this acquisition of the online retailer, TheHouse.com, continues our focus of an omnichannel approach,” Lemonis said in prepared remarks. “This vertical strategy not only provides a nice bolt on to the company but enhances the renewed strategy behind the new Gander Outdoors model.”

Camping World will assume control of TheHouse.com’s assets, which include 200,000 square feet of office space, stocking warehouses and an outlet location. With over 65,000 products in stock, the local retailer claims it’s one of the largest sellers of outdoor gear in the world.

“The management team [at TheHouse.com] not only possess a strong knowledge of the active sports market but also a keen eye for the development and invention of products,” Lemonis said. “This new acquisition, coupled with [marine products retailer] Overtons.com and GanderOutdoors.com, continues our effort to grow our understanding of the outdoor enthusiast.”
