CA Product Development Firm Opens MN Office

The company hopes to tap the local medical device industry and expand its client base in the area.

Novo Engineering, a Vista, California-based design engineering firm, announced Tuesday that it has opened an office in Eden Prairie.

Novo develops medical devices, printers, and other products, serving industrial, medical, and consumer industry clients that range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. George Pariza, director of business development, said the new location will allow the company to tap the Midwest market, especially the Twin Cities' thriving medical device industry.

“The decision to expand into the Minneapolis area is part of a strategic plan to manage Novo's growth,” President and Chief Technology Officer Rajan Ramaswamy said in a statement. “Our business model emphasizes a strong local presence, seamlessly supported by capabilities and equipment from other Novo offices.”

The local office-which opened May 1 and is the company's second-currently has five employees. Pariza said Novo hopes to hire more as they expand their business in the area; when and how many is yet to be determined. The company currently hires a total of 48 employees in its two offices.

Novo Engineering was founded in 1997 and has since been issued more than 200 patents. The company's clients include California-based Hewlett Packard and DexCom and Fridley-based Medtronic. The company is privately held and does not share revenue figures.
