Boston Scientific Veteran Named BridgePoint CEO

Denis Harrington has joined Minneapolis-based BridgePoint Medical as president and CEO after spending 18 years at Boston Scientific and Scimed.

Minneapolis-based BridgePoint Medical announced Friday that is has named Denis Harrington, a veteran in the medical device industry, its new president and CEO.

BridgePoint said that its cofounder and previous president and general manager, Chad Kugler, has been named chief operating officer.

“Denis brings outstanding sales and marketing leadership in interventional vascular therapies to BridgePoint Medical,” Kugler said in a statement. “As we enter a new phase for the company, I am confident that his expertise will enable our continued growth and ability to serve our customers and their patients successfully.”

Harrington previously served at Natick, Massachusetts-based Boston Scientific and was most recently head of U.S. sales for the company's cardiovascular and cardiac rhythm management businesses. He also worked at Scimed before the company was acquired by Boston Scientific in 1995.

According to BridgePoint, Harrington has extensive experience in building, merging, and growing sales, sales operations, and broad commercial organizations. He is a 1983 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and spent five years in the Army, attaining the rank of captain.

BridgePoint-which was founded in 2006-designs, develops, and commercializes new technologies and techniques to treat coronary and peripheral artery disease. Its investors include New Enterprise Associates, Polaris Venture Partners, Foundation Medical Partners, and local medical device veteran Michael Berman.
