Blu Dot Barters
The Minneapolis furniture maker now accepts “creative currency.” It invited customers to make offers in early March—“collections, creations, talents, taxidermy” that they’d trade for Blu Dot items (see swapmeet.bludot.com). “All reasonable offers considered,” Blu Dot guaranteed. Easy enough when the offer is handmade jeans or photos of vintage snowmobiles. But what about a pledge to perform 25 “random acts of wormness”—that is, to unexpectedly do the dance move in public places and document on camera what ensues? Let the barterer beware, says Blu Dot: “Blu Dot kindly requests proof of the quality of your ability to bust out the worm. Video, if you please.”
