Best Buy Super Bowl Ad to Feature Amy Poehler
Viewers who tune in to the big game on February 3 can expect to spot comedian Amy Poehler in an advertisement for Richfield-based Best Buy Company, Inc.
Twin Cities Business reported earlier this week that Best Buy plans to run a Super Bowl ad this year, marking the company’s third consecutive Super Bowl ad, although a Best Buy spokesman at the time declined to disclose details about the spot.
But the company announced Wednesday that Poehler, a Saturday Night Live alum, recent co-host of the Golden Globe Awards, and current star of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, will be featured in a Best Buy commercial scheduled to air during the first quarter of the game.
The commercial was created by Miami-based ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky and directed by Academy Award nominee Bryan Buckley.
“Amy Poehler’s Golden Globe performance left us all wanting to see more of her,” Scott Durchslag, Best Buy’s senior vice president of digital and marketing and president of BestBuy.com and e-commerce, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to feature her in our commercial this year and bring the public another dose of her unparalleled humor.”
