Amazon Launches One-Hour Alcohol Delivery Service In Twin Cities
One-stop online retailer Amazon has partnered with Surdyk’s to offer speedy delivery of beer, wine and spirits to Twin Cities area customers.
Starting Thursday, members of Amazon’s Prime service can receive one- or two-hour delivery of more than 700 beers, 1,200 spirits, 550 white wines and 750 red wines. (For the full list of options, click here.)
One-hour delivery will cost Prime account holders $7.99, while two-hour delivery is free.
Operational hours of Amazon’s service will work much like other Minnesota liquor stores, meaning there will be no Sunday sales and customers must place their order between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday through Saturday.
Residents of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Burnsville, Maple Grove, Andover, Woodbury and White Bear Lake are the only ones eligible for the service in the state. Currently, the only other cities Amazon offers alcohol delivery for are Chicago, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
To speedily manage and handle orders that come in, Amazon will station workers at Surdyk’s with the sole job of receiving and delivering alcohol to its customers. Amazon spokesperson Amanda Ip said the company chose Surdyk’s for its diverse and local selection of beer, wine and spirits.
Amazon, however, is not the only company utilizing Surdyk’s for alcohol delivery. Minneapolis-based Bite Squad delivers for the Northeast Minneapolis-based store as well. Drizly, Minibar and DrinkFly also offer a similar service to Amazon’s for other liquor stores.
