Apple Valley Foods to Close Chaska Facility
Apple Valley Foods US, known for producing fresh and frozen pies, will close its Chaska facility and permanently lay off 95 employees.
The private, family-owned company begins layoffs July 11, according to a WARN notice sent to state officials on Tuesday. It is unknown if affected employees are represented by a union.
Apple Valley Foods US is a sister company of the original Apple Valley Foods, based in Canada, and a subsidiary of Indiana-based Harlan Foods. Apple Valley manufacturing facilities operate across North America, according to the website.
Along with pies, those facilities produce pie crusts, breakfast breads, bagels, muffins, snacks, energy and nutrition bars, wellness beverages, and more.
The Apple Valley website lists a dozen jobs open at a facility in Austin, Minnesota.
