4 MN Cos. Make Fortune’s “Most-Admired” List

Of Fortune's 50 most admired companies, four call Minnesota home.

Four Minnesota companies ranked among Fortune magazine's “most admired companies” list: 3M Company, Target Corporation, Best Buy Company, Inc., and General Mills, Inc.

Apple, Inc., topped the list-for the fourth year in a row. Google, Inc., took second.

Maplewood-based 3M ranked 15th, beating out all other companies in the medical and other precision equipment category. The company ranked high across the board but was recognized as a leader in innovation, people management, and its use of corporate assets.

Minneapolis-based Target landed in the 22nd spot, ranking second among general merchandisers, behind Wal-Mart. Target also received high marks in a variety of categories, including quality of management, and innovation.

Richfield-based Best Buy was named the 36th most-admired company in the United States. It too received high marks in the innovation category.

Golden Valley-based General Mills sat near the bottom of list in 47th place. It placed fourth in the consumer food products sector.
