2 Mpls Restaurants on OpenTable’s Top 100 List
Two Minnesota eateries—The Capital Grille and Restaurant Alma, both of which are located in Minneapolis—were recently ranked among the “Top 100 Best Restaurants of 2012” by the users of OpenTable.
OpenTable, a platform that allows diners to make online restaurant reservations and provides reservation management tools for restaurants, said that the list is based more than 5 million reviews from diners who use its system; reviews were submitted for more than 15,000 U.S. restaurants, and they were collected between December 1, 2011, and November 30, 2012, the company said.
The Capital Grille, located at 801 Hennepin Avenue, offers a selection of dry aged steaks and fresh seafood, as well as an extensive wine list. It is part of a fine-dining chain that has locations throughout the country.
Restaurant Alma, located at 528 University Avenue Southeast, changes its menu every six to eight weeks, and its dishes are made with seasonal and local ingredients. The restaurant, led by award-winning chef Alex Roberts, has also appeared on Zagat’s list of best restaurants.
California has 24 restaurants on OpenTable’s list, the most of any state, followed by New York, which is home to 18 winners. Virginia has six restaurants on the list, and North Carolina, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Washington, D.C., all have three. Minnesota is one of eight states that has two restaurants on the list.
“This year’s honorees have accomplished what every restaurant aspires to—making guests feel as though they have had a truly singular dining experience,” OpenTable Chief Dining Officer Caroline Potter said in a statement. “These best overall restaurants are consistently getting it right on every level, from top flight ambiance and service to cocktail lists and menus that positively dazzle diners.”
