2 Local Cos. Merge to Form Real Estate Dev. Firm

Anderson Builders and KM Building Company have joined forces to form Anderson-KM Builders, which will provide real estate development and building services.

Anderson Builders and KM Building Company announced Friday that the two companies have merged to create a real estate development and building firm called Anderson-KM Builders.

The new entity will be led by Kent M. Carlson, who previously served as a senior executive at Ryan Companies. The firm also has three other partners-Greg Anderson, who founded Anderson Builders in 1999; Steven Faber, who acquired KM Building Company in 1999 after four years as part owner; and Arne Cook, a real estate development consultant.

According to the Star Tribune, the firm will have 24 employees and it will consolidate into one location later this year. In the meantime, it will temporarily operate from two locations, Anderson's headquarters in St. Louis Park and KM Building's headquarters in Minneapolis, the Minneapolis newspaper reported.

Carlson told the Star Tribune that the companies will together have annual sales of between $30 million and $40 million.

According to a press release, the new firm will provide a broad spectrum of real estate services, including feasibility studies, site selection, land assembly, municipal approvals, and environmental remediation.
