Dr. Bill Morice was not a household name before the pandemic, but after appearances on NBC Nightly News, Fox News, and CNN, plus a visit to the West Wing, numerous print interviews, and his weekly Dan Barreiro segments on KFAN, offering a calm and pragmatic take on ice hockey and life during Covid, Mayo’s “Big Knocker” is just that. Morice oversees the business and practice of testing at Mayo. His lab conducted 25 million tests annually before the pandemic, from all over the world. Globally, he is concerned “as we transition to the endemic phase of Covid that we recognize we have underinvested in [medical] infrastructure and scalability.” His initiatives for 2022 are a continued focus on improving diagnostics in health care delivery and its digital transformation.
