Once upon a time, Curt Gunsbury was a special education teacher. But since becoming a multifamily housing developer, he hasn't looked back. Gunsbury's goal is to build "sustainable, affordable, market-rate housing." He adds, "We definitely built communities—that's an intentional part of what we do." Minneapolis-based Solhem is currently under construction on its largest project, a 408-unit building on the Pentagon Park site in Edina. Counting that, Gunsbury has developed over 2,500 units in the metro. In 2018, he co-founded another company, Renew22, which invests in solar power infrastructure: "We just see it as part of our mission." Solhem also is currently under construction on a 229-unit project in Northeast Minneapolis and a 49-unit building in the North Loop.
