Taking On Minnesota’s Water Issues
The second annual Minnesota Idea Open tackles issues of water quality, inviting the public to submit ideas for improving the state’s water supply and awarding $15,000 to help implement the winning idea.
The Open, a project of the Minnesota Community Foundation, is sponsored this year by Pentair, the Golden Valley–based maker of pumps, filters, and other water products. If the winning idea is related to Pentair’s areas of expertise, the company says it will consider providing services to help implement the solution.
Submissions were accepted from June 21 to July 15. Three finalists will be announced on August 6 at mnideaopen.org. All Minnesotans are invited to vote for their favorite idea between August 23 and September 5—either at the Web site or at a booth at the Minnesota State Fair. The winner will be revealed September 6.
