Macy’s fashion blowout is on its annual tour around the United States, making its appearance at the State Theatre, with an after-party on the eighth floor of Macy’s. This year’s theme is “Fashion in a New Light,” and features nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow as well as a performance by Cirque du Soleil. The evening provides plenty of opportunities to meet and mingle: a $1,000 VIP ticket gives you access to a preshow cocktail reception, plus entry to the VIP lounge at the after-party. Proceeds go to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

The 24th Annual Polo Classic
Join up to 2,500 people to watch the oldest game of equestrian sport. “You meet a variety of people there,” says John Faricy, principal owner of Faricy Law Firm. “I also invite clients to come to my tent, and it’s a good time to visit.” Proceeds benefit the University of Minnesota Equine Center, but even if you’re not an equine enthusiast, you can network with attendees from companies such as Coldwell Banker Burnet, Cargill, Ralph Lauren, and Merrill Lynch. The event will also feature a car show with 60 exotic and classic automobiles.

The 28th Annual TwinWest Golf Classic
During the short summer in Minnesota, grab the chance to meet clients on the golf course rather than at the office. This event draws accountants, lawyers, and bankers, says Jeff Starbird, partner at Lurie Besikof Lapidus. You can even be paired with businesses based on preference if you plan to attend solo. There’s also a raffle that funds scholarships to high school seniors in the TwinWest area.

Skills Based Summit
The Skills Based Summit brings together for-profit and nonprofit leaders to share ideas. In its second year, the summit, hosted by HandsOn Twin Cities, features speakers from 3M, General Mills, Thomson Reuters, and Medtronic. Attendees from nonprofit organizations will explore how to use business tools in technology, marketing, digital media, and more. “It’s that cross-pollination networking with people and sharing best practices,” says Donna Svendsen, associate director of community action at General Mills. “The networking is incredible. Our team made great connections with some of the nonprofits.” Four to five different presentations will be happening simultaneously all day.

Paul Douglas 10th Annual Golf Classic
This may seem like just another golf event, but all proceeds benefit SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) and its continuing mission to help prevent suicide. You can look forward to rubbing elbows with attendees from such companies as Clear Channel, Popp Communications, and Grand Casino. Lunch and dinner are included in the entry fee.
