At the heart of PNC’s community support is a commitment to employee volunteerism. Shown here, the local PNC team volunteers bi-weekly at La Creche Early Childhood Center in North Minneapolis.

Community Support With Economic Impact

The Twin Cities are rooted in community—a spirit of caring, giving back and advancing the long-term success of Minneapolis-St. Paul. That made the region a natural fit for PNC to become more than a member of the business community. For more than 160 years, PNC’s strategy has centered on supporting the communities it calls home.

Across PNC’s footprint, including Minneapolis-St. Paul, that focus takes shape through support for early childhood education, arts and cultural organizations, and underserved neighborhoods.

Doing Good, Driving Economic Opportunity

Recognizing education as a powerful driver of economic opportunity, PNC invests in early childhood learning through PNC Grow Up Great®, the PNC Foundation’s signature $500 million initiative launched in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. In the Twin Cities, PNC Grow Up Great has carried that commitment to early childhood education to organizations such as ServeMinnesota, helping build early numeracy skills among PreK children statewide and contributing to measurable, longterm educational success.

PNC also supports the next generation of business leaders. Through a relationship with Junior Achievement North, PNC is helping advance financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship among local youth, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to economic empowerment where its clients, employees and future customers live and work.

Investing in arts and cultural organizations can also generate significant economic benefits. Research from Americans for the Arts1 found that event related spending by arts and culture audiences totaled as much as $500.8 million statewide. That impact is one reason PNC supports the Minnesota Orchestra and its sensory and family concerts. Designed to remove barriers to live music, these programs provide accessible cultural experiences for children, families and people with sensory sensitivities while strengthening community connections.

Looking Forward

By advancing early education, supporting arts and culture, and investing in community needs, PNC seeks to strengthen the places where people live and work while earning long-term trust. This philanthropic focus is also a commitment to the economic success of the Twin Cities. It reflects the idea of “business for good”—and the belief that supporting communities is simply the right thing to do.
