U.S. News & World Report recently released its annual list of the “best hotels in Minnesota,” and topping the list was Graves 601 Hotel, Wyndham Grand Collection.
 
The downtown Minneapolis hotel “draws a trendy, urban crowd that aims to be at the center of the city’s orbit,” according to U.S. News.
 
Located across from the Target Center and adjacent to the Block E entertainment complex, the hotel provides easy access to the entertainment and commercial heart of Minneapolis, U.S. News pointed out. Meanwhile, room amenities include a mini-bar, a 42-inch plasma-screen TV, and “cozy beds.” The hotel’s prohibition era-inspired Bradstreet Craftshouse Restaurant also received high praise for its “innovative American cuisine.”
 
Second on the list of best hotels was The Saint Paul Hotel, which was highlighted for its combination of history and comfort.
 
The downtown St. Paul hotel “excels at sophisticated elegance” with its wooden four-poster beds and other antique décor, according to U.S. News. At the same time, the hotel provides modern amenities, including flat-screen TVs, wireless Internet access, and luxury bath products.
 
The list of the 16 best hotels in the state is part of U.S. News’ larger “Best Hotels in the U.S.A. 2013” feature, which includes a list of the 10 best hotels in the country in addition to various regional lists; no Minnesota hotel made the national list this year. U.S. News said its best hotels lists are based on expert ratings, recommendations and accolades from other travel media, and reviews from people who have lived in the hotels. All 16 hotels that made the Minnesota list, along with their rankings and the cities in which they are located are:
