Dunkin’ Donuts’ MN Comeback Grows With 24 More Locations
The Dunkin’ Donuts comeback is expanding in Minnesota as the coffee and baked goods chain announced on Wednesday that 24 more restaurants would be entering the Twin Cities area. That’s in addition to the 10 that were already confirmed earlier this year.
Two franchise groups have inked deals with Dunkin’ Donuts to introduce 12 stores each over the next several years. Local franchise group Kod Kod Enterprises, LLC announced plans to develop locations throughout the northern suburbs of Minneapolis, along with at least one location in St. Cloud. The other franchise group, VANTive Group, LLC, will open a dozen locations across the eastern metro area of Minneapolis and its surrounding areas.
Both franchises expect locations to open starting in 2017.
In a release, Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Donuts said it hopes to increase its presence in the Twin Cities, as well as Mankato and Rochester. The chain is heavily concentrated in the northeast U.S., and is set to open more than 400 new locations nationwide as it continues its expansion into the Midwest and west coast.
In April, Legacy Concepts also said it would open 10 of its own locations in Minneapolis, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina and other west metro communities. The Twin Cities-based franchise group expects to open those stores over the next few years.
Minnesota’s only Dunkin’ Donuts location currently sits in the Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester. Before that, the chain had been absent from the state for about a decade.
