Caribou Coffee Announces Amy’s Blend 2019’s Charity of Choice

The coffee company chose Girls on the Run International to receive a portion of proceeds this month.

Caribou Coffee is using this year’s Amy Blend to team up with North Carolina-based nonprofit Girls on the Run International.

Amy Erickson, Caribou Coffee’s original roastmaster, passed away from breast cancer in 1995. Each year since, the company has honored Erickson’s legacy with their annual Amy’s Blend, a one-month signature coffee line in which ten percent of the sales goes to a charitable cause. This year, they chose Girls on the Run

“Amy was vibrant, energetic, and a true leader,” says Jenifer Hagness, VP of global marketing, product, and merchandising at Caribou Coffee. “Our partnership with Girls on the Run is a way to honor Amy, but also support young girls who will soon lead our coffeehouses, our communities, and our world.”

Operating in more than 13,000 communities across all 50 states, Girls on the Run seeks to aid in the social, emotional, and physical development of girls in grades three through eight via their ten-week programs in which the girls complete a community service project and a celebratory 5K run. Girls on the Run has served more than 1.6 million girls since its conception in 1996 and hosts more than 330 5Ks each year. It was also recently named as a top research-based program in a Social-Learning Guide by Harvard University researchers, and as one of the most influential after-school programs by the National Afterschool Association.

“What a thrill to partner with Caribou Coffee,” says Theresa Miller, chief engagement officer for Girls on the Run International. “We’re proud to be a part of a promotion that honors Amy, but also focuses on shaping women of tomorrow to be joyful, healthy, and confident.”

Amy’s Blend 2019 will be available in light and dark roast 10-ounce packages for $9.99. They will also have branded shirts and drinkware, as well as two specialty in-store drinks: a pomegranate acai tea latte and a matcha tea latte, both with coconut milk. A temporary shop is also available online at cariboucoffee.com/amysblendshop. Ten percent of the proceeds from all these sales will go to Girls on the Run. Amy’s Blend products are available now through March 6.
