Associated Bank Doubles Downtown Office Space

The bank leased an entire floor of IDS Center and said it "reflects our confidence in the city’s future."

Associated Bank is doubling its office presence in downtown Minneapolis, leasing an entire floor at IDS Center.

The bank currently offices at PwC Tower. Construction is scheduled to begin in August on the new IDS space—Associated will occupy the entire 43rd floor of downtown’s tallest tower. The office, expected to open in Spring 2026, will serve around 100 employees across several lines of business including commercial banking, commercial real estate, and relationship management, Associated said in its announcement Thursday.

“Minneapolis is a priority market for us, and we’re excited to play a role in drawing people and energy back into the heart of Minneapolis,” Associated’s executive vice president, head of corporate and commercial banking Phillip Trier, said in a statement. “This expanded footprint reflects our confidence in the city’s future and our commitment to serving clients with greater convenience and capacity.”

The addition of Associated brings the 57-story IDS to 74% leased, leasing manager Deb Kolar said.

“The IDS Center is an iconic symbol of Minneapolis—you don’t need an address to know where it is,” said Paul Schmidt, Twin Cities market president at Associated Bank, which is headquartered in Green Bay. “As the city continues to experience a renaissance, we’re proud to invest in its momentum by bringing our team to this prominent downtown location while offering enhanced convenience and accessibility for our clients and colleagues.”

Associated is also opening a bank branch on the skyway level of the IDS Crystal Court this fall. That will bring the total number of retail banks in Crystal Court to six.

And Associated has office space in St. Louis Park, plus 15 branches throughout the Twin Cities.
