Arts Picks: Khmer Arts Ensemble

At the State Theatre

Performing for the first time in Minnesota, Cambodia’s Khmer Arts Ensemble showcases A Bend in the River, a piece created by Sophiline Cheam Shapiro, a McKnight International Fellow. A Bend uses 15 dancers, two giant crocodile puppets, and eight musicians to tell a universal story about passion, heartbreak, vengeance, and redemption in a remote Cambodian village. Presented as part of the Northrop Dance series.

Apr. 5, State Theatre, Mpls., 612-624-2345, northrop.umn.edu
