Nonoko Sato took over the St. Paul-based Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN) in August, having served as associate director since 2018. MCN’s membership of more than 2,000 nonprofits gives it a respected voice and significant influence in both policymaking and practice. As its new leader, Sato’s persuasive emphasis on equity is immediately apparent. In 2022, expect MCN to move forward energetically on actions that further racial equity in the nonprofit sector and beyond, seek long-lasting equitable access to relief funding, and ensure Minnesota nonprofits have a seat at decision-making tables at local, state, and national levels.
