Lisa Shannon takes over for Penny Wheeler on Jan. 1, and knows she has big shoes to fill as she ascends from the president/COO role at Minneapolis-based Allina Health. She had been hard at work creating a consistent brand experience, which was put to the test during Covid. “Virtual care increased 4,000 percent in two weeks,” she notes. “We propelled some transformation. We’re recovering forward.” Her mission is to transform Allina from a reactive model to a “proactive, prevention, early intervention mindset.” Allina’s operating model looks at layering of services, keeping care close to or in-home. 2022 will be about investment in people: “How do we lift up a workforce that has been stressed and stretched?” The focus will be retention, she says, to sustain a workplace that lives out its values to recruit and create a pipeline of Allina’s future workforce.
