It's a wonder that Nelson is as trim as he is, cosidering the volume of snacks close at kand as CEO of KLN Family Brands. Fortunately, he can always confine his cravings to some of the healthier products his company manufactures, such as Archer Farm's blue corn tortilla chips with flaxeed. KLM produces about 1,500 other snack foods, and of late it's been achieving strong growth. Operating out of Perham in northwestern Minnesota, it is one of the nation's four largest privately owned snack food companies and the state's second largest candy company. Today, it employs approximately 1,300 people, and has more than $500 million in sales.
