Katie Lorenson has served as CFO of Grand Forks, North Dakota-based Alerus Financial Corp. since 2017. In January, though, she’ll take over as the North Dakota bank’s new CEO, replacing longtime leader Randy Newman. The Twin Cities represent a “high priority” for its leaders, Lorenson says. With good reason: In 2020, about 90 percent of Alerus’ mortgage originations came from metro area residents. “The Twin Cities market has grown to be our largest,” Lorenson says, “in terms of the balance sheet, the number of employees, and the number of clients.”
