It’s not often that new pharmacies open these days, but Jill Lytwyn, founder and CEO of the rapidly growing Plymouth-based Lotus Pharmacy, discovered a niche in bringing a personal approach to pharmaceutical care—with the lotus a symbol inspired by overcoming adversity in her own life as a survivor of domestic abuse. Lotus—the first and only woman-owned long-term care pharmacy in Minnesota—delivers medicine in a fleet of pink cars, contracting with assisted living facilities and servicing group homes, skilled nursing homes, and independent living residents. Even as many independent retail pharmacies are closing, leaving behind pharmacy deserts, Lotus is showing up for an aging population.
