Christy Sovereign had been involved with the Special Olympics for decades before she was named CEO of the Twin Cities-based 2026 USA Games. She was a swim coach, board member, and a longtime supporter of her multi-sport athlete sister, Katie. The Games will be the country’s largest humanitarian event in 2026. “We’re launching two new sports that will be competed at the national level for the first time in 2026: pickleball and cornhole. I love that they’re sports that are in keeping with the Special Olympics priority to make sports available for life.” Interested? She still has 20,000 volunteer slots to fill.
