Cedric Alexander launched his law enforcement career in 1977 as a deputy sheriff in Florida. Forty years later, he completed a three-year stint as county public safety director in the Atlanta suburbs. Hired by the City of Minneapolis in 2022, he’s now charged with unifying five public safety departments, including police and fire. In August, Alexander introduced Operation Endeavor, which uses data to effectively deploy police resources. On Halloween, he announced a double-digit decline in carjackings and gunshot victims in the first month of Operation Endeavor. His 2023 agenda is simple: reducing crime in the city. Â
