Trista Martinson is the first executive director of Ramsey and Washington County’s Recycling & Energy, bringing diverse experiences from her military, nonprofit, and government roles. She joined the U.S. Navy at 17 years old and served on active duty for 16 years. She has the distinction of serving in three branches of service, both as an enlisted person and as an officer in the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and the Army National Guard. She has devoted significant time to the military community, including as president and board member of the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. She’s been instrumental in pursuing legislative initiatives that established new supportive housing for veterans. She also founded the Women Veterans Initiative, advocating for equity and innovative programs, and has served as a Veterans Court advocate.
