Suzanne Lehman

Assistant dean of undergraduate nursing, St. Catherine University School of Nursing

Description

A graduate of St. Catherine University’s nursing program, Suzanne Lehman became the St. Paul school’s assistant dean of nursing in 2021. Her colleagues describe her as a servant-leader dedicated to addressing health inequities both in the classroom and the community. As assistant dean, Lehman oversees program operations, including faculty supervision and staffing, budget, curriculum development, and adherence to national accreditation standards and state board of nursing rules. A woman of color, Lehman says her community holds her accountable for addressing disparities in health care and nursing. This year, 30% of St. Kate’s baccalaureate nursing program graduates were BIPOC, compared with 9% of nurses statewide. Lehman also serves as board president of the Community University Health Care Center.
