In the nonprofit world, Sam Amundson exhibits exemplary CFO skills: As controller for the MAHUBE-OTWA Community Action Partnership, which manages 60-80 grants annually, she oversees a multimillion-dollar budget, plus funding streams that support housing, energy assistance, early childhood education, senior services, and poverty reduction programs. In her nine years with the Detroit Lakes-based nonprofit, the organization reports it has grown from roughly $15 million in annual revenue to more than $22 million. “Her leadership reflects a culture of integrity, transparency, and responsible stewardship of public resources,” says executive director Liz Kuoppala, who adds that Amundson’s financial expertise “directly supports life-changing community work.”
