At a time when many small liberal arts colleges across the country are navigating financial challenges, Patricia Langer brings a broad and deep understanding of higher ed finances. Langer took on the CFO position in 2021 following other finance positions at Macalester College. Most recently, she prepared the St. Paul college to build a residence hall and welcome center, revitalize a high-traffic corner of Grand Avenue, and help strengthen the nearby Macalester-Groveland neighborhood. Langer has also guided Macalester through organizational decisions that have impacted the college’s culture, including employee morale and safety initiatives like extra sick days. “Patricia’s leadership, expertise, and deep partnerships across campus play a vital role in positioning Macalester for success—now and for years to come,” says Macalester president Suzanne Rivera.
