Louis King II

Trustee and member, Allina Health

Description

Louis King II has been an authentic leader and voice with Allina Health’s board of directors since 2017, channeling his deep commitment to addressing injustices and inequities for the nonprofit integrated health system. Through Covid-19 and the murder of Geoge Floyd, King’s counsel was critical in deepening the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. One example is Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern campus revitalization project, a multi-year infrastructure project where–under King’s influence–community engagement and development became a central theme. This created work opportunities for the local community by contracting with minority and women-owned business enterprises. King also plays an active role in Allina Health’s workforce training program, a no-cost initiative that places individuals in well-paid jobs in just 20 weeks. Whether it’s through the lens of an employer, purchaser, or community partner, King’s direction has been invaluable in making sure no one is left on the economic sidelines.
