Joanne Jones-Rizzi is nationally respected for creating systemic change within museums and expanding audience access. At the Science Museum of Minnesota, she ensures that science and education initiatives are effective and equitably accessible. Over the past year, the St. Paul museum’s STEM education programs and Center for Research have reached students and organizations across the country. Jones-Rizzi was also behind the new Indigenous Access ticketing program, which provides free admission to those who identify as Indigenous as part of the museum’s ongoing reconciliation work. She also advises museums nationally and internationally on culture, identity, anti-racism, and community engagement. This past year, Jones-Rizzi facilitated a partnership between the Science Museum and the Smithsonian Institution to build and deliver Museums Advancing Racial Justice, a three-day program for museum professionals.
