Jenn Haas proves that information technology is not just a mere utility, but integral to the educational mission of Macalester College. She develops solutions that strengthen teaching and learning for the St. Paul college; during the pandemic, Haas and her team guided the shift to remote learning, testing a variety of technology resources to equip faculty with tools and training to expand digital projects. Haas has advocated for initiatives to make Macalester more inclusive and accessible, such as providing Wi-Fi hot spots to students whose homes don’t have internet access and ensuring students with limited financial resources have their own laptops. “She models leading with trust in her team, providing opportunities for growth, and empowering colleagues to solve a problem in the way they see fit,” says Macalester president Suzanne Rivera.
