Eh Tah Khu is one of the first nonprofit executives of Karen descent in the U.S. with more than 10 years of leadership experience at the Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM), dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Karen people and other refugees from Burma. Khu has helped grow Roseville-based KOM from 18 to 35 employees and expanded programs in youth development, chemical health, career advancement, financial literacy, and civic engagement. In the past 18 months, Khu has supported establishment of KOM’s youth chemical health program, which includes prevention education and case management for more than 70 youths. He partnered with the state Department of Health’s Covid response team to ensure Karen Minnesotans had access to accurate information, testing, and vaccines. He also led KOM’s new arrival services team, along with four partner organizations, to support newly arrived Afghan and Ukrainian refugees.
