Dr. Thomas George leads Children’s Minnesota’s neonatology program, the largest program of its kind in Minnesota and one of the largest in the region. Since 2018, George has directed a neonatal team of more than 500 medical specialists, caring for more than 3,000 vulnerable newborns across the region. He was recruited to oversee the task of unifying and integrating the neonatology program across all three Children’s Minnesota sites in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Coon Rapids, which included nationwide recruitment and launch of a comprehensive team of 24 neonatologists and almost 80 advanced practice providers in neonatal care. His team also oversaw the expansion of the neonatal virtual care program to more rural and regional hospitals, connecting care teams with on-demand experts for virtual consultations.
