Briana Joyner

Chief human resources and inclusion officer, Minnesota Historical Society

Description

Briana Joyner is the first woman of color to serve as chief human resources and inclusion officer for the Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) and is the youngest member on its leadership team. Joyner has directed the St. Paul organization’s diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion initiatives by building internal and external advocacy networks. During her time in this role, she has steadily increased the diversity of the MNHS workforce to its highest percentage in the organization’s 174-year history and mentored many colleagues in career advancement. Most recently, Joyner helped establish the first union collective bargaining agreement, ensuring the resulting agreement protected diverse colleagues from procedural inequities. Outside MNHS, she serves as board president and chair of the public policy and programs committee for Hallie Q. Brown Community Center in St. Paul.
