Dr. Archelle Georgiou is a nationally recognized health executive who served as chief medical officer for UnitedHealth Group from 1995 to 2007. Georgiou leverages her health care experience on the board of Children’s Minnesota, which she joined in 2021 and rose to chair just a year later. Since then, Children’s Minnesota opened its first in-patient mental health unit at its St. Paul hospital this past November, giving the hospital the capacity to treat more than 1,000 children and adolescents annually. In March, Children’s Minnesota opened a pediatric hybrid iMRI neurosurgery suite at its Minneapolis hospital, the first of its kind in North America. Colleagues describe Georgiou as an invaluable leader and advocate to ensure that the voices of the hospital system’s clinical staff remain at its core.
